Where it was filmed 'Security'

The thriller is based on the novel by the American writer, Stephen Amidon. The original setting for the story was the town of Stoneleigh in New England, which becomes an Italian location in the film: Forte dei Marmi, in the Versilia area. The seaside location in the opening of the film is a popular summer destination given its sunny beaches, colourful and immaculate resorts and boardwalk thronged with swimmers and bicycles.

However, it is the unexpectedly dark and wintertime version of Forte dei Marmi that stars in the film and provides the setting for a crime. As the days grow shorter, the beaches are deserted, the town becomes quieter and the traffic dwindles, black clouds and bare trees fill the scene. The investigations take place in the narrow streets, barely illuminated at night, that surround the villas of wealthy inhabitants, with several shots of the town centre featuring the bell tower of the Church of Sant'Ermete.

Scenes were also shot in Seravezza: in the first part of the film, Angela Santini (Ludovica Martino) bicycles to school across the bridge in the area called "il puntone", where the Serra and Vezza streams combine to form the Versilia river.

Plot
In summer, Forte dei Marmi seems a quiet town, a little corner of Paradise for its wealthy inhabitants. But when winter comes around, the villas become little fortresses guarded by sophisticated security systems. When an adolescent is attacked, a shockwave reverberates across town, exposing cracks and revealing corruption and prejudice. The inhabitants trust Roberto Santini, security officer, to solve the crime and protect the community.
