Cascina Ca’ Grande is a agricultural rural complex, that dates to the 14th century. It has been restructured, with the evolution of agricultural technology, and additional buildings have modified the structure creating its present formation.
The most ancient part is the small tower where a gateway leads to the inner courtyard which has a few rooms with a ‘shop’, no longer in existence. and large stables. At the end of the 1400s, the Pusterla family, rulers of Binasco, built the Hunting Lodge on the estate to provide hospitality for the Sforzas who loved to hunt and relax in this countryside.
In the second half of the 1800s, gateways, chicken coops, a cheese factory with adjacent pigsties and a bread oven were built, creating a structure typical of Lombardy, where the courtyard and farmyards are surrounded by buildings that encircle and defend them.
This is a rare example of late Gothic architecture that has been restored and brought back to its original shape by the latest owner. Today it is under the supervision of the Superintendence of Monuments of the State.
