Piazza della Consolata is an ancient corner of Turin, gathered around the Marian Sanctuary of La Consolata, and surrounded by small shops and bars including "Il bicerin", a little jewel of a place whose name derives from the coffee drink typical of Turin. The sanctuary is one of the most beloved places in the city for Turin’s worshippers. A statue of the Virgin Mary stands on top of the column to the side of the façade. The houses nearby have an authentic 1700s flavour show the passing of time.
