Principal photography on We are who we are, the first TV series from Luca Guadagnino, produced by Wildside for Sky-HBO, continues in Northern Italy. In addition to the main set, a disused military base in Bagnoli di Sopra (province of Padua), locations include Chioggia and the Plateau of Asiago. The latter has already featured in large-scale productions, as the location for the feature film torneranno i prati (Greenery will bloom again, 2014) by the late and much-lamented Ermanno Olmi which recounted the survival of a group of soldiers through the trench warfare of 1917, and for Daniele Luchetti’s I Piccoli Maestri (Little Teachers, 1997) which was set in 1943 and told the story of a group of students, as excellent at university as they were terrible at battle, who join the partisans stationed in the plateau of the Sette Comuni.

Shooting on the 8-episode series will start in the Sette Comuni area in mid-November. The cast includes Chloë Sevigny, Kid Cudi and Francesca Scorsese. Guadagnino tells the story of the friendships and first loves of two adolescents, children of American soldiers stationed in North Italy.
