Where it was filmed 'A Place for Lovers'

Vittorio De Sica’s story is a love story that challenges the concept of adverse fate: Julia, a noblewoman, has a malignant tumour and decides to leave her palace to go on a journey, which leads her to Valerio, whose love for her remains unshaken even when he discovers the truth.

The luxurious residence where Julia lives is actually Villa Barbaro, also known as Villa de Maser, in the province of Treviso, where we see famous frescoes by Paolo Veronese. Also in the province of Treviso, the two lovers’ journey takes in Asolo, and more specifically Piazza D’Annunzio, Via Roma and its Central Cafe.

The scenes located in the mountains and the lodge where the pair sta, were instead filmed in Cortina D’Ampezzo in the province of Belluno, of which we see Piazza Roma, the Hotel Ancora, and one of the alpine cottages of Fedarola, near the Dibona Lodge.

Moving from the Veneto to Lombardy, we find the racetrack where Valerio works and where one of his encounters with Julia takes place, the Monza National Racetrack.
