The story takes place in Rome, Milan and Naples. In Rome, Tortora is arrested in June 1983 in a hotel just after finishing a season of Portobello and taken to Regina Coeli prison. He stays there for seven months before being placed under house arrest for health reasons.
In Milan, he serves his time under house arrest at his home.
In Naples, the trial takes place that first convicts and then absolves Tortora, and it is here that the wheeling and dealing between the accusing ‘informers’ takes place. The spacious halls of Castel Capuano instead host the comings and goings of lawyers, judges and defendants. Meanwhile, a flashback to the early days of Tortora’s relationship with Francesca and a relaxing time spent on the beach takes us to the Amalfi Coast.
