Where it was filmed 'Fuoco Amico TF45 — Eroe per amore'

Locations in Rome, Marrakesh (Morocco), Malta and Sardinia were used as settings in Afghanistan.

In Rome, locations included Villa Tiberina, just outside the city centre, which overlooks the banks of the River Tiber providing picturesque glimpses of the surrounding landscape, and in the suburban parkland of Valle del Treja, located between the provinces of Viterbo and Rome, which was the setting for a gun fight.

The predominating landscape standing in for the desolate lands of Afghanistan is that of Sardinia. The production shot in some of the most picturesque places of Sulcis Iglesiente, a territory that stretches into the south-eastern part of the island, including: the mountain landscapes of Guspini, the dunes of Piscinas in the municipality of Arbus, the cave of San Giovanni in Domusnovas and the Italian Army’s military shooting range in Teulada, in the most south-eastern part of the island. A location that stands out is the Montevecchio mine which, located between the municipalities of Guspini and Arbus, is a place synonymous with the labour history and activity of Southern Sardinia between the 1800s and 1900s.
