A 9 year old boy has a symbiotic relationship with his mother. Their apartment is in Corso Giovanni Agnelli in Turin (the interiors were built in the disused factories of Mirafiori). Massimo and his father share few interests, one of these being fans of the city’s football team: in a scene they go to the Olympic Stadium. From a young age Massimo has wondered about eternity and goes into many churches in search of answers. Various locations in Turin appear in his flashbacks including the Egyptian Museum, Palazzo Saluzzo di Paesana, Docks Dora, Scuola Sacra Famiglia, Università di Neuroscienze, Church of Santa Pelagia, Church of Santa Teresa di Gesù Bambino, Church Liceo Valsalice and the building that housed the Unicredit offices in Via Nizza.
It is a rainy day in 1995. A shot of the facade of the Basilica of Superga, then the frame widens: the Superga Hill is seen in the distance, the Mole Antonelliana in the forefront. As the Grande Torino (football team) is commemorated by the plaque placed at the location of the plane accident that killed the entire team in 4 May 1949, Massimo meets his now elderly father.
Massimo has a panic attack on his return from Sarajevo and goes to hospital. The exteriors are those of the Isola Tiberina in Rome. Later Massimo talks to Elisa, the doctor who treated him on Ponte Fabricio which links Isola Tiberina with the bank of the Tiber river.
The party where Massimo meets Elisa again is set in the wine producing company Monte Delle Vigne in Ozzano Taro (PR).
