The game is located in the 5th District of Padua. The three locations first available in MostaScene are the train line (specifically, the part near the overpass of Via Vicenza); the local soccer field; and the Winter Garden. The first setting provides the opportunity for the player to gather memories of the history of the Resistance in the area, represented in a fictional mural that the player will find hidden beneath ivy. In the second, the player meets some kids who invite him/her to join the game (referencing the Quadrato Meticcio Football club situated in Piazza Caduti della Resistenza). The third offers the possibility of exploring areas in the neighbourhood not usually frequented by tourists to Padua. Once the player has engaged in all the available interactions, a photograph of the recently explored area becomes available. The game ends with the option of organizing a photographic exhibition dedicated to the 5th District by sorting and displaying the snapshots obtained during the game. The game is also an open platform able to incorporate new stories and levels, which can be easily implemented into the initial prototype.

Part of the “Urban Histories Reloaded – Creatività videoludica per azioni di cittadinanza” project, MostaScene is a narrative video game created and structured to tell the story of the 5th District of Padua (Armistizio-Savonarola) with special focus on the Palestro neighbourhood. Through a narrative whereby the main character searches for his/her cat around the neighbourhood while setting up a photographic exhibition, the player is taken to several places and discovers their histories, their present and imagines their potential future. The game is structured around simple interactions: while exploring, the player interacts with elements in the landscape.
The “Urban Histories Reloaded” project is promoted by Impact Srl, a spin-off of the Università degli Studi di Padova, in partnership with Dipartimento dei Beni Culturali – Università degli Studi di Padova, with Advance Srl, IVIPRO and support from MiBACT and SIAE, as part of the “Per Chi Crea” initiative.
