The player collects artefacts belonging to Ferdinando Cospi, Ulisse Aldrovandi and Luigi Ferdinando Marsili, eminent figures of Bologna’s cultural past. Through exchanges with them and with their support, the player progresses through the adventure to complete his/her own Cabinet of Curiosities. The Civic Medieval Museum and Museum of Palazzo Poggi are filled with fascinating objects such as a Runic calendar with 8 tables of carved boxwood, inlaid on both sides, of which only six are needed to identify the 12 months of the year, while the first and last are adorned with religious figures and symbols. There is also terra sigillata, medicinal earth, very soft clay used mostly for medicinal purposes. This was gathered after preparatory magical-religious rituals, cleaned of extraneous material, dissolved in water and combined with vegetable plant extracts.

WunderBO is a video game that aims to raise awareness of the cultural heritage of the city of Bologna. Developed by Melazeta, winner of Playable Bologna (a Call for Proposals co-financed by the Municipality of Bologna and Progetto ROCK with consultancy from IVIPRO), the game is a hidden-object adventure based on puzzles and enigmas that encourage the player to explore the city’s heritage starting with the collections housed in the Civic Medieval Museum and the Museum of Palazzo Poggi.
