This is the story of a dysfunctional family and of selfish manipulative parents: tougher they are a two-headed monster that devours their children’s every hope of freedom. Desirè is the only person who can save her brother Claudio and she intends to fight everything and everyone to protect the only love she knows as she chases after a glimmer of happiness.
Felicità is Micaela Ramazzotti’s directorial debut, she also wrote the screenplay with Isabella Cecchi and Alessandra Guidi. It is the story of people who are trying to save themselves from dysfunctional family ties and dynamics. Micaela Ramazzotti plays Desirè, the cast includes Max Tortora, Anna Galiena, Matteo Olivetti, Sergio Rubini.
The Mazzoni are definitely a dysfunctional family. The selfish manipulative parents continue to control their adult children. Desirè lives alone, unlike her younger brother Claudio (Matteo Olivetti), and unsuccessfully tries to cut off her parents’ toxic influence, with the support of her older partner Bruno (Sergio Rubini). Claudio’s suicide attempt stirs up destructive dynamics that eventually deliver the siblings’ painful, complex but essential emancipation from their unbalanced family.
The dark comedy is set in contemporary Rome.
