Gioco pericoloso, a psychological thriller with a touch of noir directed by Lucio Pellegrini, who also wrote the screenplay and story with Elisa Fuksas, is the story of Giada, a dancer and aspiring choreographer, and her older partner, Carlo, a blocked writer. Their relationship is tested by the arrival in their midst of a young artist, Peter Drago, who fascinates Carlo but causes an unexpected reaction in Giada because he could reveal an unspeakable secret about her past. Giada is played by singer Elodie, Carlo by Adriano Giannini, Peter is Eduardo Scarpetta.
The couple lives in an isolated house by the sea: Carlo needs a spark to help him start writing again and Peter's arrival somehow stimulates him; in the midst of this tension, Giada finds new strength and manages to organize a performance all her own. Their house guest, Peter, her ex, discovers the true path for his artistic expression. The tangle of secrets and lies of this new situation makes them feel alive and active, regardless of increasingly growing risks. But how far can the game go?
“This question is the basis on which I built a film set in mysterious places: the nature of Circeo, an abandoned villa, a house with enormous windows, which amplifies the looks exchanged. The sounds of nature, the pouring rain, the winter sea, hypnotic music are the other central elements of this story, which pushes a three-way relationship to the limits of fear” writes director Lucio Pellegrini.
The film was shot in the province of Latina and parco del Circeo, in the municipalities of San Felice Circeo (the Peretto picnic area), Sabaudia (town square, beach, torre Paola) and Terracina (near the temple of Jupiter-Anxur).
Further north on the Roman coast, locations included the towns of Ostia (near the seaplane base), Fiumicino (Fregene) and Ladispoli. Locations in Rome included: MAXXI – National Museum of 21st Century Arts, where Carlo meets Peter Drago at a vernissage, and the Ghione theatre, where Giada rehearses her show.
