L’amore, in teoria, directed by Luca Lucini, was shot in Milan. The story was written by Gennaro Nunziante and the screenplay by two young authors – Amina Grenci and Teresa Fraioli – who offer their generation’s take. Tananai contributed to the soundtrack with two songs: “Alibi”, which features on the trailer, and “Booster”.
Love as described in books, illustrated by great philosophers and taught in school, seems very simple in theory; however, in practice there is no logic to what can be great chaos. Leone (Nicolas Maupas) discovers this first-hand as he tries to juggle the contrasting emotions that derive from this feeling for the first time.
Produced by Indiana Production and Vision Distribution in collaboration with Sky, the cast includes Nicolas Maupas, Martina Gatti, Caterina De Angelis, Francesco Colella, with the extraordinary participation of Francesco Salvi as Meda, a homeless man who teaches the leading character the philosophy of love, feelings and life of reality, outside books.
The film is set in some of Milan’s most iconic locations: including the State University of Milan, attended by Leone and his friends; piazza Sempione with the srco della Pace, piazza Santo Stefano with the Basilica of Santo Stefano Maggiore; and the porta Venezia district.

Leone is the perfect boyfriend: kind, polite, respectful. He was top of the class at school and is again at university where he studies Philosophy. Carola's parents adore him, convinced that Manuel, the sketchy boy she was previously dating, is now in the past. However, Leone is actually providing Carola with a cover while she continues to date Manuel. This leads to a complicated situation where Leone finds himself dealing with the social services, unjustly accused of a crime committed by Manuel. The unexpected turn of events leads to a wonderful gift: he falls in love for the first time with Flor, a strong, free-thinking environmental activist. When Leone seems to have finally forgotten Carola, she bursts back into his life. Torn between true love and the girl he has always idealised, Leone has to find his way: which he does with the assistance of Meda, a homeless man, who teaches him about the philosophy of love, feelings and life that can be found in real life.
