Happily married Piero and Elisabetta have three children: Flavio, Denis and Sara. One tragic evening, an accident deprives them of their firstborn and the family sinks into a cold grief that distances them from each other. Two years later, during the Christmas holidays, another accident in Cortina forces Elisabetta and Piero to deal with a loss that they never wanted to face.
