The I Cesaroni series, which first aired on Canale 5 in 2006, made the traditional Roman neighbourhood of Garbatella famous. Built in the 1920s, Garbatella spreads out around a characteristic historic nucleus with villas, low, colourful buildings, and green spaces.
The iconic location of the series is the wine shop that Giulio (Claudio Amendola) runs with his brothers Cesare (Antonello Fassari) and Augusto (Maurizio Mattioli). The location, piazza Giovanni da Triora 6, is actually a bar where local football fans gather, home to the Garbatella Roma Club.
The steps beside the off licence, on via Giovanni da Montecorvino, lead to Giulio’s family home. The exterior of the building is actually located at a distance on via di Villa Serventi, in the Prenestino neighbourhood. This is the area where Ezio Masetti (Max Tortora) has his workshop.
The younger generation often meet in piazza Sant'Eurosia in Garbatella which is dominated by a dramatic arch in the Baroque style typical of the historic part of the neighbourhood. Ugo Foscolo High School, attended by Alice and Rudi Cesaroni (Micol Olivieri, Niccolò Centioni), is actually an elementary school, located at piazza Damiano Sauli 1, close to the wine shop.
The boys team trains on a soccer field in the Prenestino neighbourhood, via dei Gordiani 191.
Alex (Fabio Troiano) works at a bar, The Bostonian, piazza Carlo Forlanini 10, in the Portuense neighbourhood.

Widower Giulio is struggling to raise his three sons, Marco, Rudi, and Mimmo, as best he can. He lives in the working-class Garbatella neighbourhood of Rome where he runs a wine shop with his brothers. In contrast, Lucia – a divorced woman trying to rebuild her life with her daughters, Eva and Alice – comes from Milan's bourgeoisie. They meet by chance and recognize each other from their teenage romance. A first love is somehow never forgotten, and Giulio and Lucia find themselves drawn to each other again. Their meeting changes not only their lives, but also those of their families who couldn't be more different. Two families who end up living under the same roof with no time to get to know each other beforehand.
