Andrea Di Stefano's My Tennis Maestro, starring Pierfrancesco Favino and Tiziano Menichelli, is set in the summer of the late 1980s. 13-year-old Felice (Menichelli), bearing the weight of his father’s (Giovanni Ludeno) expectations, has finally reached the national tennis tournaments after years of rigorous training and strict rules. In preparation, his father enlists the help of self-styled former champion Raul Gatti (Pierfrancesco Favino).
The two set out from Rome on a journey that, match by match, leads them to gain an understanding of themselves and each other, while tennis, which first divides and then unites them, becomes a metaphor for life. Their journey includes Formia and Gaeta, in Lazio, and San Benedetto, Grottammare, Ancona, and the Conero Riviera in the Marche region.
n unexpected, profound, and unrepeatable bond is created between the two, like those unrepeatable summers that come only once.

Summer, late 1980s. After years of strict rules and training, it’s finally time for 13-year-old Felice to shoulder all his father's expectations by competing in the national tennis tournaments. In preparation, his father entrusts him to self-styled former champion Raul Gatti, who boasts an appearance in the last-16 on the Foro Italico courts of the Italian Open. Travelling from match to match, the pair undertake a journey along the Italian coast that, through defeats, lies, and bizarre encounters, gives Felice the taste of freedom and Raul the glimpse of a new beginning. An unexpected, profound, and unrepeatable bond is created between the two, like those unrepeatable summers that come only once.
