Director Davide Minnella used eight cameras to shoot the actors on Fuori la Verità, in order to simulate a television studio, showing both live broadcast and behind-the-scenes footage during commercial breaks. Six months of editing have produced a story that unfolds along the narrative lines of an entertainment show.
"The studio exteriors were filmed at the Cinecittà World amusement park, while the television studio was built specifically for the film", Minnella explains. "I called one of the best TV production designers, Marco Calzavara, because I wanted to capture the authenticity of television".
The studio set has several parts: dressing rooms and backstage area; production galley; and stage where contestants and the presenter appear, and the different environments are filmed simultaneously as the scene unfolds on multiple levels.
