Guerrieri – La regola dell’equilibrio, based on Gianrico Carofiglio's novels "Ragionevoli Doubbi," "Le perfezioni temporaneae," and "La regola dell'equilibrio", is an eight-episode tv series directed by Gianluca Maria Tavarelli, starring Alessandro Gassmann, Ivana Lotito, Michele Venitucci, Anita Caprioli, Stefano Dionisi, Lea Gavino, Michele Ragno.
The series is written by Doriana Leondeff, Antonio Leotti, Oliviero Del Papa, and Gianrico Carofiglio and is co-produced by Rai Fiction, Combo International, and Bartleby Film.
Set entirely in the city of Bari, attorney Guerrieri approaches the cases he defends with acumen, sensitivity, and dialectical skill: the client who emerges like a ghost from his past, the mysterious disappearance of young Manuela, the murder of a biologist researcher, and above all, the story of an old friend, Judge Larocca, a respected magistrate accused of corruption. The lawyer is also navigating a complicated private life: the lost love for his wife Sara, from whom he's separating, makes him nostalgic and sleepless.
He faces the challenges with a core group of trusted friends and collaborators: police inspector Tancredi (Michele Venitucci), former crime reporter Annapaola, now a private investigator (Ivana Lotito), efficient trainee Consuelo (Lea Gavino), and the unpredictable and brilliant intern Tony (Michele Ragno).
The capital of Puglia - which Guerrieri crosses far and wide on his bicycle - is an integral part of the stories and portrayed as a city of light and shadow, from the beautiful historic centre to working-class suburbs.
A frequent location is Bari Courthouse, in piazza Enrico De Nicola, which provided both exterior and interior spaces: "I wanted the trials to be as faithful to reality as possible. Filming inside the Courthouse helped us a lot. We tried to convey the chaos of folders, laptops, and documents, the comings and goings of lawyers, police officers, and ordinary people that characterize every courtroom and corridor" explains director Tavarelli. Guerrieri's office is located inside Palazzo Ietri, on corso Vittorio Emanuele, with a distinctive large entrance courtyard. The wide seafront promenade is a popular spot for walking, cycling, and nightlife: the Chelsea, club owned by Nadia, Guido's former client and friend, is located on the San Girolamo promenade.
The characteristic alleys of Bari Vecchia and the Murat neighbourhood are unmistakeable. Recurring locations in the city's historic centre include the small square of Santa Maria del Buon Consiglio, where the church of the same name was demolished in the 1930s, leaving only columns and mosaic floor; piazza del Ferrarese, with the Church of Vallisa; and piazza Federico II di Svevia where Guido has a revealing meeting with his wife.
In addition to the capital, locations included Giovinazzo, Trani, Modugno, and Grumo Appula.

Guido Guerrieri is a brilliant lawyer and boxing enthusiast, whose success balances his fragility. Nostalgic for the lost love of his wife, Sara, from whom he is separating, Guerrieri approaches the cases he defends with acumen, sensitivity, and dialectical skill: the client who emerges like a ghost from his past, the mysterious disappearance of young Manuela, the murder of a biologist researcher, and above all, the case of an old friend, Judge Larocca, a respected magistrate accused of corruption. Supporting him in these challenges are trusty Tancredi, a skilled police inspector; Annapaola, a former crime reporter now private investigator; Consuelo, an efficient trainee at Guerrieri's firm; and new intern, Tony, pathologically absent-minded but unpredictable and brilliant.
