...che Dio perdona a tutti is based on the novel by Pif (Pierfrancesco Diliberto) about an atheist estate agent with a passion for desserts who falls in love with a devout pastry chef. Afraid of losing the woman of his life, he pretends to be a believer and embarks on a sentimental and spiritual journey that will lead him to confront faith and truth.
Written by Michele Astori and Pierfrancesco Diliberto, the film was shot in Palermo, in Mondello and the historic centre. The first scene, set during the historic 1982 World Cup won by Italy, features a panoramic view of piazza Beati Paoli, overlooking the 16th-century Church of Santa Maria di Gesù al Capo, and the house where Arturo is watching the game with a tray of Sicilian cannoli.
Alongside desserts, religious buildings are a recurring feature in the film: one sequence takes place inside the Church of San Giuseppe dei Teatini when Arturo (Pif) is chosen to play Jesus in a re-enactment of the Stations of the Cross. Another scene has Palermo’s Cathedral of Maria Santissima Assunta as a backdrop. The charming square where Flora's (Giusy Buscemi) pastry shop is located is piazzetta Speciale.
In Carini, the courtyard of La Grua Talamanca castle hosts a stage of the Stations of the Cross.
Credits include: cinematography by Guido Michelotti; editing Giogiò Franchini; original music by Santi Pulvirenti; production design Marcello Di Carlo; costumes by Cristiana Ricceri; casting by Maurilio Mangano.
