The Museion was built in Bolzano in 2008 based on the plans drawn up by an architects’ studio operating out of Berlin, KSV – Krüger, Schuberth, Vandreike. One noteworthy feature is the glass façade, which brings light to the interior and creates a transparent effect. The two frontal façades of the cube-shaped structure serve as connective tissue between the old city of Bolzano and the more modern districts, making the Museion a futuristic landmark, but also a symbolic link to the city’s architecture. The access-ways in the interior provide for fluid circulation, and on the various floors one can find rooms for exhibitions, events and workshops, along with a library, café, and gift shop.
