Piazza del Duomo, the geometric centre of Pistoia and the majestic focal point of both civil and ecclesiastical power, gathers together some of the most important buildings in the city: the Cathedral of San Zeno, which was built in the early middle ages, the Romanesque bell tower, as well as the Gothic-style Baptistery of San Giovanni, Palazzo dei Vescovi and Palazzo Pretorio.
