On an isolated hill surrounded by orchards, on the shore of the lake of S. Giustina, rises majestic Castel Cles. The first evidence of its history goes back to the 12th century. The most distinguished figure of the Cles family, that of the prince bishop Bernardo Clesio, is the enrichment and the development, according to the renaissance fashion, of the building. Over the centuries Castel Cles was hit by numerous disasters that seriously damaged it. The interiors of the castle are particularly precious; the rooms are decorated with sixteenth-century frescoes representing heraldic motifs and allegorical scenes.
