The medieval village of Poppi is located in the Casentino valley, inside the Foreste Casentinesi National Park. Its walls, built in the 13th century, still stand around it and it is famous for its castle, the Castello dei Conti Guidi, where the municipal administration is now located. Near the Castle, there is a 12th century abbey, the Badia di San Fedele, which was originally a Vallumbrosan abbey.
