The Badia bridge, also known as ponte del Diavolo, is located outside Vulci Castle near Canino (VT).
The most ancient features of the bridge, which date to Etruscan times, are the two pylons in blocks of red tuff rock which rise from the bed of the river Riora. The pylons were later enclosed into a structure by the Romans, probably in the 1st century BCE, which then included three arches and square sides. During the Middle Ages, the bridge was modified to include defensive structures linked to the recently built castle of Badia, which guarded it.
