03-08-2022

Italy’s Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with Cinecittà and backed by key industry institutions, has once again pledged grants for the international promotion of Italian audio-visual products.

In addition to the 3-session, €1.2 million Contributo alla distribuzione (next deadline is 30 November), three further funds are available: details of which can be found on the Cinecittà website, in the Gestione Fondi Cinema – Internazionalizzazione section.

The International Exporters Fund - Fondo esportatori internazionali, (budget €330k), is aimed at international sales agents representing Italian films to assist in participation at the key international markets; the grant, which covers up to 80% of accounted expenses, is awarded for a maximum of 4 films per company per market and varies from €10k to €30k depending on the number of films requested by the single market.

The Audio-visual producers Fund - Fondo produttori di opere audiovisive, (budget €519k), supports independent audio-visual producers by assisting with their participation at key international festivals, markets and co-production events, and at courses, training workshops and development labs, or specific professional missions on behalf of a company.  The amount of the grant is variable, depending on the chosen festival/market, and may cover 80% of the expenses.

The Cinema Producers Fund - Fondo produttori cinematografici, (budget €600k), targets independent cinema producers, providing support for:  the promotion of Italian films for theatrical distribution selected for screening at key international festivals; the participation of producers in courses, workshops and training laboratories; the participation in specific professional missions on behalf of companies.  Again, the grant awarded varies according to the festival/market in question and covers 80% of the costs.
