IDM Film Commission Südtirol has announced a change of leadership: Renate Ranzi is taking over from Birgit Oberkofler who has led the South Tyrolean Film Commission since 2017. With experience in various roles, including Film Location Coordinator and head of the Film & Creative Industries Ecosystem, Renate Ranzi will now lead the South Tyrolean Film Commission. From 2017 to 2019, Renate Ranzi co-helmed IDM Film Commission Südtirol with Birgit Oberkofler, working for the inclusive management of the Film Fund, the promotion of South Tyrol and the training of young talent.
Renate Ranzi has been at IDM since 2016 in roles ranging from regional development to training. She was manager of Film Location Development and oversaw the positioning and development of South Tyrol as a film location. She has followed productions supported by the Film Commission through the Film Fund while filming in Alto Adige as an assistant in a range of technical departments: directing to scenography. Her professional experience also includes working with cinema and artistic Festivals.
Birgit Oberkofler comments on the passing of the baton to her colleague Renate Ranzi: “I am proud that the leadership of IDM is passing to a valid professional like Renate. Her curious nature, open to discovering new market trends, has always contributed innovatively to all our projects, and I know she will continue to do a lot for the Film Commission. Working in IDM has taught me that Alto Adige is truly an incredible territory, with enormous potential for anyone with a valid project. It is with this outlook that I would like to say goodbye to those who have supported me in all these years and, with the same spirit, look to the future and new challenges”.
Renate Ranzi comments: “I would like to thank Vera Leonardelli, Director Business Development at IDM, Birgit Oberkofler and the entire Film Commission team for their trust in me. I decided to accept this challenge because I believe that there is still a lot to do for the development of the audiovisual industry in South Tyrol. Being able to count on the collaboration and support of the fantastic IDM team is an incentive to do this job to the best of our ability. The main objective is certainly to continue to increase the attractiveness of South Tyrol through the film industry, with support for increasingly artistically daring projects. Thanks to the incredible work of Birgit Oberkofler and our team, IDM is a solid and reliable partner in the production landscape in Italy and abroad. In this moment of such historic uncertainty, we need to continue in this direction”.
