On May 17th, in Cannes, during the “Introducing Cinecittà Studios” session (Italian Pavilion, Hotel Majestic – h.10.30-11.30), which will be attended by Senator Lucia Borgonzoni, Undersecretary of State for Cultural Heritage and Activities with responsibility for the cinema and audio-visual sector, Italy for Movies will provide a prototype preview of the APP planned for general release in August 2019.
Offering an approach for both professionals and film tourists, the app will provide Italy for Movies services in smart mode, using geolocalisation and use in mobility to create personalised itineraries: a map will show points of interest near the user’s position (Locations, Films, Games, Itineraries, Incentives).
The application will be available for iOS and Android, in Italian and English with the option of adding other languages later. Using a menu, the user will be able to access the various sections. It will also be possible to share various elements on social networks, giving the user an active role in targeting places and films.
Producers and/or directors who are in a location, or interested in one for use as a possible set will be able to use the new Italy for Movies app to gather information immediately about other potential locations nearby (perhaps of the same type), the incentives available in the area and find out if previous productions have used the area. The cinephile or film tourist will find out what was shot in the location they are visiting or in its surroundings and if it is included in one of the themed itineraries created by Italy for Movies.
