Venice is presently the stage for filming of season 2 of The Studio, the TV series that satirically explores the behind-the-scenes workings of the Hollywood star system, directed by Seth Rogen, who co-wrote it with Evan Goldberg. The second season stars Madonna with a cast including Michael Keaton, Bryan Cranston, Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz, Julia Garner.
Rogen plays Matt Remick, head of Continental Studios.
While Season 1 presented a behind-the-scenes look at the Golden Globes ceremony, the second season takes place at the Venice Film Festival. After scouting locations last September while the Festival was underway, Rogen has created (six months in advance) the 83rd edition of the famous event. In addition to the Lido, locations include the Campo Santa Maria del Giglio area, home to the famous Gritti Palace, which has hosted numerous celebrities, including Ernest Hemingway, and where Woody Allen filmed scenes from Everyone Says I Love You with Julia Roberts here.
Season 1 triumphed at the Emmy Awards and Golden Globes. Season 2 of The Studio is expected to drop on Apple TV+ by end 2026.
