Production: Covid-19 protocol for the audiovisual industry

27-05-2020 Reading time: 2 minutes

The Protocol regulating the protection of workers in the film and audiovisual industry has been prepared. The result of cooperation between the various sectors involved (organisations representing workers, artists, writers and film and audiovisual production companies), it covers all the phases of production. Its focus is the health and safety of the workers who were forced to stop all activity in March due to the Covid-19 emergency.

While on screen, actors will adhere to the guidelines for social distancing applicable to all aspects of non-individual life. If scenes require them to be closer, they will be tested to ensure that they do not have the virus, both before the shoot and at least once a week during that period. Dressing rooms will be single use only, and must be disinfected with every change of destination. Sets are to be disinfected on a daily basis, at the start and completion of shooting and any time a case of the virus is reported. Costumes must be allocated to individuals. All other workers will be required to wear surgical facemasks. The makeup, hair and wardrobe departments and sound assistants wiring mikes will use single use gloves, FFP2/FFP3 masks and visors. Tools needed on a habitual basis, such as makeup and hair accessories, will be disinfected after every use and at the end of the day. Buffet catering is prohibited, catering stations will be increased in number and disinfected on a daily basis, food will be provided in individual portions with single-use cutlery and crockery. Everyone present on set will have their temperature taken every day. External materials must be delivered to a filtering area and disinfected before use. The guidelines governing social distancing will regulate all other behaviour, e.g. frequent hand washing and sanitising, no hugs or handshakes and no numerous gatherings.

The Protocol now awaits approval from the various institutions with the aim of restarting production by the end of June.
