On 13 November the Council of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano approved funding of €1.314 million for the last call of 2017 of the fund for film and television productions managed by the IDM Film Fund & Commission. It is thanks to this that the region is expecting a return of at least €2,53 million, which can be used to promote the local professional sector and the image of the region as a whole. The call will be funding nine projects, one of which is from Alto Adige, four from the rest of Italy, three from Austria and one from Germany. The nine productions, which will be filmed over 70 days, will bring some big names to the region. One of the most eagerly anticipated projects is the new film by American director Abel Ferrara, entitled Siberia, starring Willem Dafoe, Isabelle Huppert and Nicolas Cage. The film, which is receiving funding of €500,000, will feature lots of locations in Alto Adige, including Terlan and its old mountain pass, the Gampen Pass in the Non Valley mountains, and Plose Peak, which sits at an altitude of 2,562m. Another all-star cast is made up of Giorgio Pasotti, Marco D'Amore, Robert Palfrader and Kasia Smutniak, in an Italian black comedy entitled Abbi fede, directed by Alessandro Angelini. The film has received funding of €350,000 and filming will take place on the High Plateau of Renon, in Bolzano and in Bressanone. Also among the projects being supported by IDM are documentaries Cerro Torre by director and mountaineer Reinhold Messner, Sogni in grande by Katia Bernardi, and Dicktatorship di Gustav Hofer and Luca Ragazzi, which attracted international attention at the MIA (International Audiovisual Market) in Rome.
