Where it was filmed 'The Big Heart of Girls'

The film, which is set in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, was actually shot in the Marches, using the area of Fermo as the main shooting location.
Francesca is the daughter of Rosalia, the second wife of rich landowner Sisto Osti. She comes to Rome and happens to be at one of the ‘courtship’ evenings organised for Carlino and her step-sisters by their respective families. The external shots of the villa, which Carlino must visit every evening on his bike for a month before making a decision, are actually of Villa Il Castellano, a historical residence located on a plain between the Chienti and Ete Morto rivers in the contrada of Castellano in Sant’Elpidio a Mare (FM).
Before he meets Francesca, Carlino, who is a hardened womanizer, is interested in Marcella, who is, however, betrothed to the Duce’s cousin. Marcella lives near Cascina la Riccia, in Tragliatella in Anguillara Sabazia (RM).
Despite her family’s objections, Carlino and Francesca marry, at the rural church of SS. Crocefisso d’Ete di Mogliano (MC), and during their brief honeymoon they stay at Villa Montanari Rosati in Porto San Giorgio (FM), which dates back to the late 19th century and sits in the middle of a park with trees that have been there for centuries. Today it is a bed and breakfast.
After discovering Carlino’s betrayal, Francesca seeks refuge in Bari with her aunt, whose residence was recreated at Villa Le Palme, in Anzio (RM).
During her stay in Bari, Francesca spends her time walking along the beach and reading letters from her husband asking her to forgive him: the beach we see is the beach that is home to the Nerone Caves in Anzio, in an archaeological area including the Imperial Villa of Nerone and the Port of Anzio, which was built on the orders of Emperor Nero.
At one point Carlino organises an elaborate ploy to get Francesca to return home so their married life can begin: the train she catches home drops her off at the old station of Fabrica di Roma (VT).
