Where it was filmed 'The Bandit of Tacca Del Lupo'

The opening credits roll across a shot of the mountains where Raffa Raffa’s brigand gang is hiding out: the Rocche di Prastarà, a hamlet of Montebello Jonico in Aspromonte. On the heels of the outlaws, the bersaglieri also go to Rupe del Monte Calvario, near Pentedattilo, a hamlet of Melito di Porto Salvo.

The location used for Melfi in Basilicata where Captain Giordani arrives to take up his regimental command is actually Sacrofano (RM): several scenes are set in largo Cardinal Gasparri, including when the brigand orders the villagers to rebel against the Kingdom of Italy and stay faithful to the Bourbons. Men who refused the bandits’ orders are seen hanged to death on the entrance gate to the medieval borgo in via San Biagio. The town headquarters where the Captain meets Commissioner Siceli is on the same road.

When Zitamaria, the woman who flees the brigands returns to the curiosity of the villagers, the location is Motta San Giovanni. Other locations included Gambarie, a hamlet of Santo Stefano in Aspromonte and Mammola.
