The ancient village of Curon and its buildings were recreated using voxel techniques from old photographs and the plaster model in the Museum Alta Val Venosta. Some specific areas of the village were recreated with particular emphasis, although partly reworked to fit the story: the famous bell tower, positioned alongside the Church of St. Catherine of Alexandria (destroyed); the Traube Post and Goldener Adler hotels (both destroyed and rebuilt in the new Curon Venosta); the little church of St. Anne (which still exists today). During the adventure, the player unlocks and collects information and models related to Curon’s history and the traditions of Alto Adige.

A Painter’s Tale tells the story of a painter on a visit to Curon Venosta who is drawn into the depths of the lake by a mysterious female figure only to later awake in the village of the past, as it was before it was flooded. Fictional elements and characters feature alongside the historical story. A Painter’s Tale: Curon, 1950 is a video game about memory, a short narrative adventure that combines reality and fiction to reveal the history of the village through interactivity. Oil paintings, inserted into the digital transposition of the village, were specially created for the game to accompany this journey between fiction and reality. There are also paintings on wood, in addition to those on canvas, a cardinal element in the daily life and culture of Alto Adige.
