Poveri noi by Fabrizio Maria Cortese is a comedy about the value of friendship, true friendship which overcomes time and misunderstandings. The main characters, played by Paolo Ruffini and Ricky Memphis, reconnect after thirty years: one has lost everything and is in real trouble, the other has continued with life as usual. They were once real friends, but the former betrayed the latter and they lost contact. This does not prevent them from recovering the energy and light-heartedness of the old days once they meet again, as they smooth out accumulated grudges and rebuild their future together, in the name of gratitude.
The film was shot in Potenza and eight municipalities of Basilicata: Abriola, Aliano, Lagonegro, Sant'Arcangelo, Viggiano, Villa D'Agri and Marsico Vetere.
Poveri noi is a story that focusses on positive values "which reflects those that make Lucania a hospitable and welcoming territory" commented Margherita Gina Romaniello, President of the Lucana Film Commission, which supported the film: "the talented cast and naturally the involvement of many Lucanian workers complete the importance of the combination of cinema and Lucanian territory showcased in the film Poveri noi".
