The Natural Monument Parco della Cellulosa, established in 2006, is located north of Rome, near the Casalottineighbourhood and divided into two areas linked by the Galeria channel.
The park, which occupies the area of the former Ente nazionale Cellulosa e Carta, has various experimental labs for breeding trees and a vast collection of Mediterranean species from Lazio and central Italy. It hosts a great diversity of wildlife, with a wide variety of birds, including hoopoe and owl, and mammals, like fox and porcupine, providing a wealth of biodiversity.
The Park is not freely accessible at present. The Committee responsible for the welfare and safeguarding of Parco della Cellulosa, which organizes activities to promote the conservation and use of the area, is based near the nature reserve of Casaletto della Cellulosa.
