Love and Bullets by the Manetti Brothers was named
Best Film at the David di Donatello Awards this year. The musical, set in a
stunning Naples full of contradictions, was awarded no fewer than five of the
15 awards it was nominated for, including, along with the title of Best Film,
the award for Best Supporting Actress for Claudia Gerini, Best Score, Best
Original Song, and Best Costumes.
But Naples also featured in other films that
received awards, including Naples in
Veils by Ferzan Özpetek, which won two awards (Best Photography and Best
Screenplay), Cinderella the Cat, an
animated film set in Naples (winner of the David di Donatello for Best Producer
and Best Digital Effects), and Holding
Hands by Gianni Amelio, with the award for Best Actor going to Renato
Carpentieri.
