Provisional partial data on the 2017 calls for applications held by the Apulia Film Fund, which made €5 million available to productions that chose to film in Apulia, shows a significant increase in applications compared to 2016. Data from the last session, the deadline for which was 28 February 2018, is still being compiled, but partial data shows 60 applications for funding as being received, a 53% increase on the 42 received the previous year.

Even more significant is the number of works that received funding, which partial figures put at 43 (15 feature films, 18 short films, two animated shorts, four documentaries, three TV films and one TV series), an increase of 115%, bringing the total amount of funding granted to €4,109,043, and putting the economic impact on the region at an estimated €11.6 million.

Another important figure concerns the employment of workers residing in Apulia and registered in the Production Guide: 1,168, an increase of 89% on 2016, and the days of filming that took place in the region, which rose by 43% on the previous year to 695.
