In Piazza del Comune in Viterbo, filming is taking place on the final scenes of Troppa grazia, a film by Gianni Zanasi starring Alba Rohrwacher along with Elio Germano and Giuseppe Battiston, and filmed mainly in Tuscia. It’s not the talented Tuscan actress’ first time in the area; it was here that she worked onThe Wonders, the second work by her sister Alice, which won the Special Jury Prize at Cannes in 2014.
Troppa grazia, which is a Rai Cinema, Pupkin and Ibc Movie production being distributed by Bim, received organisational and logistical support from the Department for Economic Development of the Municipality of Viterbo.
It’s not the first time the City of Popes has hosted film productions. Indeed, the streets and piazzas of Viterbo have been graced by a number of film productions over the years; for example, Orson Wells’ Othello, which was declared Best Film at Cannes in 1952, along with I Vitelloni by Fellini in 1953, and The Traffic Policeman, a film made in 1960 by Luigi Zampa and starring Alberto Sordi. The city was even visited by none other than George Clooney recently, as he hunted for locations for his new TV series set during the Second World War.
