IDM: Call II finances 7 projects – Priority to “green” productions

With the second call of 2022, the IDM Film Commission Südtirol will finance 7 projects, 6 of which come from Italy and one from Germany. Their production will involve industry professionals and services from the Alto Adige region during both principal photography and post-production. Approximately 75 days of shooting in the region are estimated.

Almost all the feature-length film and documentary productions working in Alto Adige will follow the “Green shooting” introduced by IDM to limit the environmental impact of audio-visual production activities on the territory.

The financed projects presently in production include the feature-length film Die Chaosschwestern feat. Pinguin Paul from German Mike Marzuk. It tells the story of the Paul the penguin, stolen from a zoo to be used in performances in Las Vegas. The film is produced by Filmvergnuegen (Alto Adige) with blue eyes Fiction, KARIBUFILM Produktion and MMC Fiction (all Germany), Velvet Films (Belgium) and Dor Film (Austria).

Persona non grata, written, directed and produced by Antonin Svoboda of Vienna, opens a window onto #MeToo in the world of Austrian sport with the story of a former skier, a victim of sexual abuse. It is produced by Albolina Film (Bolzano) in coproduction with Filmproduktion (Vienna).

The TV movie Der Gejagte, written by Stefan Brunner and directed by Rick Ostermann, narrates the events that happen to a trial witness and his family. It is co-produced by good friends Filmproduktion (Berlin) and SATEL Film (Austria) and will be shot almost entirely in Alto Adige.

The documentary Romano Artioli – The last great dreamer, written and directed by Thomas Perathoner and produced by 44 Production (Bolzano), tells the story of the businessman from Bolzano who brought the Bugatti brand back to life and relaunched Lotus, two of the greatest icons in the car world.

Viva Cuba Libre, a docu-film from Matthias Lintner, produced by Helios Sustainable Films (Alto Adige), follows a Cuban activist in exile in Italy as he returns to his country to show what is truly happening in his tormented island where a group of intellectuals and arts fight for a free, democratic Cuba.

IDM will also support two new short films presented by local production companies: Senza nome, written and directed by Davide Grotta, a road-movie drama produced by Helios Sustainable Films, and Der Maulbeerbaum directed by Cornelia Schöpf and Federico Campana and produced byAlbolina Film.
