Calabria Film Commission announces €5 million in production support

At the Italian Pavilion set up in the Hotel Excelsior for the Venice International Film Festival (Lido di Venezia), the Fondazione Calabria Film Commission today presented the 2022 call in support of domestic and international audio-visual productions choosing to shoot in Calabria. The new announcement, bringing the total previously earmarked to €5 million, is the most significant investment by the institution that promotes audio-visual industry in the region since its establishment. Special commissioner Anton Giulio Grande, Fondazione director Luciano Vigna and Italian Film Commissions president Cristina Priarone were all present at the presentation.

The Call has lines of funding for films/ feature-length and TV drama and for documentaries and short films. The film/feature length and TV drama category has two different allocations: €500k and €250K. Documentaries may receive a maximum contribution of €50k, short films €25k. The deadline is noon (CET) on the 30th day after posting of the announcement on the Fondazione Calabria Film Commission website (link here) where it is also possible to find all the necessary information to submit an application to the 2022 Call.

The evaluation criteria include a noteworthy new option: “promotion of the regional identity in its contemporary dimension, through stories, places and settings that are able to encapsulate the present—day image of the region.”
