While presenting the 2019 operational programme for the film and audiovisual sector, President of the Lazio Region Nicola Zingaretti announced the allocation of new resources to the sector, bringing the total amount up to €22 million between now and 2019.
The Region’s new programme provides for eight lines of action, starting with the Lazio Cinema International call, which has supported no fewer than 50 international co-productions to date, and will invest €7 million in July and €10 million next year.
The Cinema Fund, on the other hand, the aim of which is support the growth of Italian film, will be allocated €9 million plus €2 million exclusively for the revolving fund for young companies, which grants subsidised loans for the launch of film and audiovisual products.
The other activities supported by the Region are many and varied. For example, the promotion of film and audiovisual works through the Fondazione Cinema per Roma, which also organises the Rome Film Fest and the MIA – International Audiovisual Market, as well as the strategic activities of the Rome Lazio Film Commission.
Last but not least, not to be overlooked are other measures such as those in support of high-quality cinemas and film, the relatively new art of restoring old films, support for summer screening venues, events and festivals to combat social unease through culture, initiatives for bringing cinema into schools, and activities associated with training in the audiovisual sector, from the ‘Torno Subito’ call to the Officina Pasolini and the Scuola Volonté.
