Italy for Movies: Funding section, new filters for international operators

03-03-2023

The “Funding” section of Italy for Movies – Italy’s portal for locations and funding incentives for the cinema and audio-visual industry commissioned by the Directorate General Cinema and Audio-visual of the Ministry of Culture and managed by Cinecittà – has a new function created especially for international producers. It is now possible to navigate the opportunities available using a filter that identifies the funding open to Italian, European or non-European producers wanting to shoot in Italy. Italy for Movies proves once again to be a key tool for industry professionals and a useful guide, especially for international operators, to the range of funding available.

The Funding section of the portal has an overview of all the funding opportunities and facilities available for filmmakers with easy to navigate summaries in two languages. In addition to the filters that identify funding from regional, national or transnational institutions, the home page of the section features a map of Italy which provides information about the incentives made available by regions and film commissions. Furthermore, it is possible to filter open calls, those about to expire and upcoming calls or combinations. A text-based search leads straight to specific calls.

The summaries, intended for quick consultation, describe the funding available, and link to the official announcement and contact information forms while also illustrating the key features: deadlines, type of product, production phase, maximum amount available and the percentage of reimbursable expenses. The type of funding – loan, non-repayable grant, tax credit or other – is also specified. The summaries also provide information on the type of expenses required in the territory, minimum work days in the territory (where applicable), and disbursement methods.

With this new function, Italy for Movies confirms its mission of promoting Italy as the ideal place to shoot a film.
