10-10-2023

The second Lazio Cinema International call for 2023 will be open from 29 November to 10 January with a budget of € 5 million, bringing the overall annual budget to € 10 million, in line with previous years.

It was announced during the MIA - International Audiovisual Market at the “Lazio, land of cinema: a system of opportunities” panel organized by the Regione Lazio, in the presence of Roberta Angelilli, vice president Regione Lazio; Lorenza Lei, delegate for cinema and audiovisual Regione Lazio; and Gianluca Lo Presti, MD Lazio Innova, who described the main points of the call, the 15th in 8 years, during which time 172 works have been co-financed.

Applicants must be SMEs and the costs eligible for the grant are calculated according to two methods: spent in Lazio, i.e. expenditure for individuals physically resident in the Lazio region; and shot in Lazio, which instead concerns shoot days in the region.

The maximum single contribution is € 500 k, with variable cost percentages depending on the ratio of Italian and foreign quotas and if the work is considered to be of regional interest or special regional interest.

The panel closed with the announcement of the Crossing Script award, a €10 k prize established in 2022 for screenplays for Italian-Israeli film co-productions; it was awarded by Maria Giuseppina Troccoli, Roma Lazio Film Commission, to the story Rachele written by Giorgia Cardaci and Roberto Pretti, produced by 11Marzo.
