Lazio Cinema Lab is the call from the Regione Lazio that aims to strengthen and improve the competitivity of Small Medium Enterprises in Lazio involved in film production.
To this end, the new 'Lazio Cinema Lab' call will facilitate the production of films by independent producers that focus on certain themes and have the scope to reach an adequate number of spectators in cinemas and participate in festivals, in particular internationally. The call will select works that deal with stories of regional interest, such as: Emotional Education (stories of learning and values, of bullying etc.); History (events and stories from the past that took place in Lazio; people from Lazio or who lived in Lazio linked to historical events; people from Lazio or who lived in Lazio who have particularly distinguished themselves); Wellbeing (stories of sport and sporting activities, health and healthcare, contemporary themes such as: eating disorders, etc.); Tourism (stories about trips to seaside resorts or mountains about Lazio; of walks in Lazio; cultural tourism, etc.).
The works, feature-length films only, will be selected by a three-step ranking:
Photography on the film may only begin after the application has been submitted. Eligible territorial costs must be at least 50% of the eligible direct costs, have obtained the tax credit for the production of films, have an overall production cost of between €2,500,000 and € 5,000,000 and schedule distribution in at least three cinemas in Lazio outside the city of Rome.
The call has a financial endowment of €2,500,000: the maximum grant for a single film will not exceed € 800,000.
Applications must be submitted through the GeCoWEB Plus platform accessible on the www.lazioinnova.it website, from 12:00 (Italy time) on 12 December to 17:00 (Italy time) on 12 March 2025
