24th Cyprus Film Days International Festival – Call for submissions

The Deputy Ministry of Culture of Cyprus and the Rialto Theatre launch a call for submission of feature films in the two competition sections of “Cyprus Film Days“, the official international film festival of Cyprus.

The Festival aims to broaden its horizons beyond the geographical boundaries of Cyprus, as well as to attract international film industry professionals and audiences, thereby turnig Cyprus into a meeting hub for the three neighbouring continents.

The 24th edition of Cyprus Film Days IFF will take place betweek 17 and 25 April 2026, both in Nicosia and Limassol.

The feature films to be submitted must be 2024 or 2025 or 2026 productions.

COMPETITIVE SECTIONS

A. “Glocal Images” international competition section

The Glocal Images international competition section accepts films that highlight the nuances of local cultures while exploring, in innovative ways, themes of global rilevance.

An independent International Jury will award the following prizes:

  • Best Film Award: €6,000, paid in half (ex aequo) to the producer (€3,000) and the director (€3,000) of the film
  • Special Jury Award: €3,000, paid in half (ex aequo) to the producer (€1,500) and the director (€1,500) of the film
  • Best Director Award: €1,000
  • Best Cinematography Award: €1,000 sponsored by Caretta Films.
  • The jury may also give up three Honoray Distinctions. These distinctions are not accompanied by a monetary prize.

B. Cypriot Film competition section

The Cypriot Film competition section accepts Cypriot films pursuant to the rules and regulations of the Festival. These films must meet specific criteria to be eligilble for selection.

The Jury willa award the following prizes:

  • Best Cypriot Film Award: €4,000 paid in half (ex aequo) to the producer (€2,000) and the director (€2,000) of the film. In addition the award also grants use of The Studio, offered by the Cyens Centre of Excellence.
  • Best Director Award: post production services valued at €7,000, offered by Authorwave
  • Best Performance Award: €1,000 sponsored by Limassol Municipality.
  • The jury may also give up three Honoray Distinctions. These distinctions are not accompanied by a monetary prize.

The selection of films competing in both sections (National and International) is made by the Festival’s Artistic Directors, Argyro Nicolaou and Petros Charalambous.
