Ten new film and TV productions* began shooting in Italy in August 2026.  This makes a total of 149 productions that have started since the beginning of the year, in addition to the 15 productions continuing work that started in 2025.

The productions starting work in August, and continuing into the following months, account for a total of 88.5 shoot weeks. In terms of workforce, the Italian crews comprise 808 professionals, joined by 26 foreign professionals. The only foreign production starting this month will spend a total of 13 weeks in Italy, employing more than 120 crew members, in addition to 16 foreign professionals.

Directing remains predominantly a male domain: men direct 9 of the 10 projects in the August sample.

The 10 August productions include 4 feature films, 4 miniseries, one TV movie and one medium-length series. All are works of fiction.

August 2026 saw filming begin on 7 Italian productions, 2 co-productions, and a German production.  This last is a six-episode miniseries Monaco Money Run – The Supercar Project (see On Set).  Nine weeks of filming are planned for the two co-productions: Eden Sonate (Italy, France, Belgium) will shoot in Passo Stelvio, Bolzano and Arco in South Tyrol, and the Brusia Waterfalls in Emilia-Romagna (see On Set); while La terra dell'Estate (Italy, Belgium) films in Sicily, in Catania and Acireale (see On Set).

Four of the 10 productions starting in August will also film in Rome and surroundings; the capital once again hosting the highest number of active productions per city.  Emilia-Romagna, Lombardy, Piedmont and Sicily each welcome two new productions in August while Friuli Venezia Giulia has one production.
