As the summer shooting season approaches, Italy’s regions are offering incentives to attract audio-visual productions to their territories.
The deadline for the second call for contributions from the IDM Film Fund & Commission, whose annual budget of €5 million disburses up to €1.5 million in production support and up to €100k for development and preproduction to production companies on the condition that 150% of the grant is spent in the regional area, is 4 May. The following call has a deadline of 21 September.
The deadlines for requesting grants from the Trentino Film Fund, for support in the making and distribution of films, works for TV and documentaries shot in Trentino are 15 June and 21 September. The maximum grant can reach up to €200k for films and television works, €40k for documentaries and €50k for local productions.
Requests for contributions of up to €80k (€180k for works of particular artistic/economic significance) may be submitted to the Valle D'Aosta Film Fund in the first ten days of each month. The €290k budget has three areas of action: support for audio-visual productions; support for the development of audio-visual productions; and support for the production of works of particular artistic/economic significance.
The next deadlines for the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Film Fund are 30 June and 30 September: Italian and international production companies can obtain up to €280k for feature-length films, animated films, TV films and series, and works for the internet; and up to €30k for documentaries, short films and music videos. The window to access the Fondo per l’audiovisivo del FVG, whose principal aim is to encourage the development of local businesses working in the audio-visual production sector and the training of professional resources, will open on 3 June and close exactly one month later on 3 July. The third and last window of the year will be accessible from 20 September to 22 October.
The Region of Emilia-Romagna will open the second window of calls for production grants from 1 to 31 July: the call aimed at domestic and international productions has €1.2 million available, while the fund for businesses in the audio-visual production sector based in Emilia-Romagna has a budget of €600k: in both cases, 30 % to 60% of expenses will be covered.
