The fifth mission is set in the Abbey of Montecassino, one of the oldest Benedictine monasteries in Italy. Manon makes her way through the surrounding woods and finds a secret entrance to the crypt. One she’s in, she frees the hostages and destroys the Germans’ supplies before the Allies can bomb the building. This actually happened on 15 February 1944, but was a serious error on the part of the British and American forces: the Abbey was destroyed because a strong enemy presence was suspected, as in the mission in Medal of Honour, but no trace of Nazi soldiers was actually found inside.

Inside the Abbey of Montecassino
A first-person shooter set during the Second World War. The protagonist is Manon Bastide, a young woman who is determined to avenge the death of her brother, killed by the Nazis during a raid in Paris: Manon goes from being a member of the French Resistance to being part of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), the United States’ wartime intelligence service and a predecessor of the CIA. The missions take the player to various locations in Africa and Europe: Tobruk, Crete, Montecassino and Wewelsburg.
