Where it was filmed 'Stromboli'

Sara (Elise Schaap), is fleeing her family and looking for herself. The place she has chosen for her journey of evasion is the island of Stromboli, in the Aeolian archipelago, a paradisical setting where she hopes to find refuge and consolation.

After an eventful night, Sara bumps into Jens (Christian Hillborg), a charismatic Danish guru who brings her into his retreat group. This includes neurotic millionaire Harold (Tim McInnerny) and taciturn Hans (Peter Embrechts). With a backdrop of alleys, white island houses, black sand beaches and the incandescent force of the volcano, Jens helps all the participants face their personal demons through exercises and role play.

One of the key locations in the film is the Church of St. Bartholomew, with its characteristic red façade, in the Piscità area. The building, which dates to the 18th century, was built by the island’s population; the interiors are also shown: 19th century stuccowork and a cross vault cupola studded with blue and gold stars.
