L’estate piu? calda is a story of friendship and love, both romcom and drama, it is set in the magical, sensual atmosphere of Southern Sicily.

Matteo Pilari shot the film mostly in the Ragusa area from August to October 2022. The film stars Stefania Sandrelli who returns to the area fifty years after the memorable Divorce Italian style (1961) directed by Pietro Germi.

The film shot in Scicli, in particular on the cliff of Costa di Carro, in Cava d’Aliga and Sampieri, Donnalucata(including interiors and the Church of St. Catherine of Siena), Marina di Ragusa, Modica and Punta Secca, the shoreside hamlet of Santa Croce Camerina known to fans of Commissioner Montalbano as the pretty beach of “Marinella”.

Plot: Summer comes to a small village in southern Sicily: it is Lucia’s last before she goes to university, leaving her best friend Valentina, and the last for Nicola before he becomes a priest. Lucia spends her holidays dividing her time between working as a camp counsellor for the parish summer camp and looking after the animals and garden of the large villa hosting the camp. Nicola’s arrival at Don Carlo’s parish brings euphoria and upset to the village: everyone immediately likes the young deacon, especially Valentina who is determined to seduce him. To help her friend, Lucia gets increasingly close to Nicola, discovering many interests and a world view in common, until an accident unleashes a burning passion between the two…
